LORENZO MANUEL DURÁN

Inspired by a caterpillar, self-taught artist Lorenzo Manuel Durán creates delicate works made of leaves. Due to the lack of information about the ‘leaf cutting art’ he developed his own technique. He collects leaves from his local residence area, and once he has finished the process of drying he uses a surgical scalpel to cut the figure. ‘My geometric or figurative designs mostly come from my innate observation of nature and the personal metamorphosis I have gone through in recent years.’ Living in an existential metamorphosis for some time has turned him into a man who is increasingly aware of his inside, his shadow, and he has found that art is the best way to communicate his thoughts, feelings and frame of mind.
